Editorial policy

Leicester Gazette is an independent local news site for residents. We cover council, community, health, sport and planning with accurate headlines and named sources — not clickbait or churn.

Our standards

  • Facts come from named sources. We do not invent quotes, figures or events.
  • Every story links to its original source where available.
  • Headlines are accurate and in plain English — not tabloid CAPS sensationalism.
  • Sponsored posts and advertising are always clearly labelled.

How we work

  1. We monitor trusted local sources — BBC regional news, council announcements, and other attributed outlets.
  2. Stories are written in clear plain English for local readers, with a link to the original report.
  3. We do not invent quotes, figures or events.
  4. Corrections are published promptly when errors are reported.

Dates, headlines and locality

  • Publication dates show when a story first appeared on Local Gazette; they are not changed merely to look fresh.
  • Expired events and incomplete source headlines are stopped before publication.
  • A story is assigned to the edition for its primary place. Passing references to another town do not determine placement.

Corrections

If you spot an error, email hello@localgazette.co.uk with the story URL. We will review and correct or remove inaccurate content promptly.

Advertising

We may display advertising (e.g. Google AdSense) to support running costs. Advertising does not influence editorial selection.
